DeBelle was born in 2016 from a frustration most women know too well.

Ashwini Shriyan, an engineer and MBA graduate with a lifelong passion for beauty — and nails in particular — kept running into the same problem. Every nail polish she used left her nails yellowed, brittle, and damaged. The products on the market were either full of harsh chemicals or simply not built for the Indian woman's skin tone, lifestyle, or standards.

So she decided to build something better.

Ashwini didn't approach this as a beauty entrepreneur. She approached it as an engineer.

She partnered with a leading manufacturing facility and developed a formula from France — one enriched with natural seaweed extract, and free from the toxins that were causing the very damage she'd experienced. DeBelle launched with 9 nail polish shades. Not hundreds. Nine — each carefully chosen to complement Indian skin tones, starting with the pastels that were missing from every shelf she'd ever browsed.
